The "Embodied Idea"
KEY THEMES: VISION, TRANSITION, FLOW (CIRCULATION)
Vision (Courtyard views)
The living/occupied areas (in black) are spaced out in between the courtyards. There are potential views into the courtyard from each of these. Bawa did this with the intention of making the occupant feel connected to the landscape and surroundings.
Flow (Circulation)
Circulation flow in this building follows a main stream, and is branched out to other areas through small openings, doorways and open spaces.
Transition
The transition between courtyard and interior is important, as it defines the layout of the building. As one moves along the house, they go through areas of the courtyard, and proceed to the living area. This pattern continues for the length of the building.
Avoid the meaningless drawings, and think of someone who doesn't know what the drawing is about. Would this person be able to understand and guess it's meaning? The drawings under "vision" are getting there and the first "transition" diagram is good too. The others need more work on, or are unnecessary. Select the best ones only for the final submission, and make a nice presentation!
